582 Trees.

That's what it takes to offset your lifetime carbon dioxide emissions.*

How did we come up with that?

In 2016, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per New Zealander was

7.14 metric tonnes. This figure includes everything from the energy we use to run our homes, the petrol used to run our vehicles and the byproducts of industry and agriculture.

The average lifespan of a New Zealander is 81.5 years.

That equates to 582 tonnes of CO2 emitted per person, per lifetime.

The amount of CO2 a single tree can absorb in its lifespan varies greatly by species, age and location, but a generally accepted

quantity is 1 tonne.

Therefore, absorbing 582 tonnes of CO2 requires...

582 Trees.

That's less than 8 trees per year

Or 1 a month, just to be sure.

Time to get started.
